Crain’s Detroit recently featured our founder and serial entrepreneur Beth Hussey in a glowing review on her latest venture: Senior Simon.

In the article, reporter Anna Fifelski shined a light on what makes a communication platform like Simon different: ease of use. Senior Simon eliminates usernames and passwords, and setup is fast and easy, making it instantly accessible for all users.

With nearly 70 locations across the Midwest, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, American House is the 22nd largest senior living provider in the U.S. That scale made it an ideal launch partner for Senior Simon.

In July 2025, Beth teamed up with American House Chief Operating Officer Alex Germain-Robin to pilot Senior Simon in three communities, an initiative inspired by Beth’s deeply personal connection to the mission, as her mother was living in an American House community. From there, Simon got to work.

“When we consider technology in our communities, we think about tomorrow’s residents,” Germain-Robin said. “We’re going to have the baby boomers coming into our communities sooner than later and they’re already technologically savvy, so they’re already comfortable with it.”

The program was designed for simplicity and built for connection. It centered on accessibility, onboarding support and real-world usability. Residents and their loved ones gained immediate access to:

  • Daily menus

  • Community activities

  • Announcements and reminders
    Emergency alerts

Families received real-time visibility into their loved ones’ daily experiences. Staff were empowered to communicate instantly across communities. In just 48 days, Senior Simon delivered:

  • 2,500+ active users

  • 700,000+ content views

  • An average of five app visits per user, per day

  • A 30% increase in resident engagement at one community

More than 85% of American House residents were already smartphone users, validating Senior Simon’s future-forward approach as baby boomers prepare to enter senior living.

“These aren’t vanity metrics,” said Germain-Robin. “Senior Simon reflects our commitment to senior-friendly, easy-to-use technology that keeps residents and families seamlessly connected.”

Senior Simon redefined communication inside American House communities. Residents felt informed. Families felt connected. Teams communicated with confidence.

Now expanding nationally, Senior Simon continues to bring clarity and connection when communication matters most. This launch proved that great creative, when paired with real insight and thoughtful execution, doesn’t just look good. It changes behavior.

And our friendly little robot is just getting started!
